OUR MISSION:

Our mission Sankofa symbolizes one taking from the past what is good and bringing it into the present in order to make positive progress through the benevolent use of knowledge.

ABOUT US:

Our agency’s belief is rooted in the Ghana philosophy of Sankofa and we have adopted  The Sankofa Bird as our agency’s logo.  Sankofa teaches us that we must go back to our roots in order to move forward. That we should reach back and gather the best of what our past has to teach us, so that we can achieve our full potential as we move forward.  Therefore, whatever we have lost, forgotten, forgone or been stripped of, can be reclaimed, revived, preserved and perpetuated.

New Impression Inc, a Faith Based Social Service Agency, was founded in 2008, to address the serious shortage of safe, decent, affordable housing for low-income families.  We are a registered 501(c) 3 non profit corporation providing housing and comprehensive supportive services to homeless and at-risk families. However, our focus shifted to Diabetes Awareness due to the high incidence of Diabetes among people of color. To that end, we have partnered with the California Legislative Black Caucus, The City of Compton, and Compton High School to proclaim April 28, 2009 Diabetes Awareness Day for the City of Compton. Consequently we are in the planning stages of promoting the second Compton Annual Diabetes Walkathon to take place April 23, 2011.  We are actively looking for agencies to partner with us as well as fund this worthwhile  and life changing events for the citizens of Los Angeles County.
