My mother Ola M. Johnson was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes when I was a young mother of two. She was diagnosed with middle life onset Diabetes. In the beginning, she was on medication. I was quite concerned about my mother’s health and made inquires of my personal doctor. He told me that if my mother would lose weight she would no longer have to take the medication. Unfortunately, my mother struggled with her weight most of her life. The year 1975, then it was called “sugar”. My mother was not worried, she felt that it would not “kill” her and continued her lifestyle of overeating, especially the wrong foods. She soon became insulin dependent and her health took a turn for the worse. In 1993, when I was a graduate student at USC, my mother died from complications associated with Diabetes. Her death inspired me to become a medical social worker. I did not follow that path and started my professional career at the Department of Children and Family Services. This page is dedicated to my mother, I know first hand the struggle associated with Diabetes. I welcomed all comments as I truly have made the decision to dedicate the first of my life to Diabetes Awareness.

Last Wednesday I woke up and thanked the Lord for giving me diabetes. If it wasn’t for my diagnosis I wouldn’t be motivated to get healthy. At first I felt like I was given a life sentence. After reading the packet you sent me I realize I am going to be the healthiest I have ever been once I get in shape and continue to eat better. I plan on being an advocate for diabetes awareness and want to share all of the wonderful resources I am finding with everyone who will listen. Thank you Jurline for your love and support. You are such an amazing lady, keep up the good work!!!
Gerrie I am so proud of you. Thanks so much for your comment. Love Jurline
Thank you admins.
I’m impressed, I must say. Really rarely do I come across a blog that is both educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you’ve hit the nail on the head. Your opinion is important; the matter is something that not a lot of people are talking intelligently about. I am very happy that I stumbled across this in my search for something relating to it.
It’s rare for me to discover something on the net that is as entertaining and fascinating as what you have got here. Your page is sweet, your graphics are outstanding, and what’s more, you use reference that are relevant to what you are saying. You’re certainly one in a million, good job!
As a Newbie, I am continuously searching online for articles that can help me. Thank you
You’d notable recommendations there. I did a hunt about the topic and found out that likely people i’ve talked to will agree with your blog.
Thanks! I was looking for it!
please share?
Thanks!!!
